School groups are most welcome at the King Cottage Museum.
King Cottage is a heritage listed example of a Western Australian rural cottage built in the 1880s. It is furnished in the style of the families who lived here up to the 1920s. On the property we display small farming tools and horse drawn vehicles of the period.
We offer a special experience for students by involving them in some of the domestic activities of the era including washing socks, pumping water and playing marbles.
Tours are available in the mornings. They generally last 1.5 hours and are conducted by experienced guides with current Working with Children cards. We have public liability insurance.
We charge schools $5 per student and teaching staff are free. If parents are also coming for the tour, we normally charge concessional admission prices.
